'Cheeky Tiffany Brat'
Audrey in black, pink and gold, exaggeratedly alternative.
The term ‘brat’ originally referred to a naughty, spoilt child. However, since the release of pop singer Charli XCX’s album of the same name, the term has come to be associated with a lifestyle that is unconventional, carefree and rebellious. In fact, the term was named Word of the Year in the United Kingdom in 2024.
However, as early as 1961, Audrey Hepburn embodied the modern, independent woman in her role as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. She was a cheeky party girl who was charming, chaotic and excessive. Many artists have sought to transport the film and fashion icon into the pop art of the new millennium.
Today, Holly Golightly would also be described as a ‘brat’. My interpretation is the ‘Cheeky Tiffany Brat’. She’s rock ‘n’ roll and alternative, with a joint and a nose piercing, but also elegant and spoilt by luxury, wearing a crown and evening gloves. Nevertheless, she is always pretty and exciting.
